Last night's dinner conversation:
Me: I'm thinking about starting a brothel at airports to earn big bucks.
Erin: If you were to start one, what would you call it?
Me: Hmmm...I'd call it Layover. (lots and lots of guilty laughing). Our tagline would be "A Layover You Would't Mind."

Merry Christmas!
I hope your Christmas has been wonderful. I have enjoyed every moment at home with my family. It's going to be hard to going back to Chicago. I'll take solice in the fact that I leave for Cabo in nine days. Tough life.
To the joy of everyone we received a Karaoke machine from Santa this Christmas. We Orender's have never been shy of the stage...except when I was painfully shy as a kid. It's been non-stop singing. Even Mom & Dad have entertained us. Dad's waiting to get a Frank Sinatra cd and then we'll never be able to get him away from that machine! Thankfully there are two microphones which cuts down on the fighting. A family that sings Eminem together stays together.

Welsh Corgi
Becky and Russ are thinking about getting a dog. After living with my family Becky fell in love with Corgi's. Growing up we had a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Woofie. I love these puppies. I mean, just look at these snuggable puppy! It makes me want a dog so bad!
This is little Zac from Overo Corgi's.

Richard
I want to give a shout out to Richard who has kept me, my family and so many others looking beautiful over the years. He's got serious skills with the scissors and can make the dull hair a little more exciting.
Miss you! I do have a new hair person up here in Chicago but my heart will always be with you! :-)

House of Crazy
Friday night was the big REBIRTH sketch performance at the House of Blues. It was quite surreal performing in a venue that's played host to so many great musical artists. Armed with a keyboard, lapel mic's and killer wit we took to the stage. I can't say that I was overly impressed with our performance on Friday. It was a difficult venue to perform sketch but I am so glad that we did it. I learned so much about the process and now we have a great show we can perform elsewhere.
The best part of the night was the crowd of friends and family that came to support us. Half my office attended as well as other people who are so loving and supporting of me. We had more fans than any band that performed that night. And we needed them! The bar scene can be an unfriendly place to bare your artist soul.
It really is a miracle that this performance happened at all. We found ourselves on the street corner by Ashley's apartment warming up in the cold air. Jason was frantically teaching Devin how to play our songs on the keyboard while we rehearsed our lyrics. I'm surprised we didn't make any money from pedestrians passing us while we played. After racing to the House of Blues and hoping to make it in time to get the mic's hooked up and ready they showed us to the "rehearsal area." This "rehearsal area" happened to be a stairwell behind the kitchen. We crammed into a corner and tried to remember our tops & bottoms while servers and tech people ran up and down, in and out of the stairwell. It was too chaotic to really get nervous.
It was a crazy night but one that I will remember forever. Sure makes you appreciate those smaller theater houses that respect the artists on stage. Would I do it again? Sure, why not!?

Dating
Here is an email I recently sent to Beckles and referring to a blind date someone's working on for me:
Beck,
Please tell me how much you miss dating and being set up on blind dates. It's my new goal to date as much as possible between now and the time I get married. But when married Christians who run in Christian circles set you up with people…it gets to be a 3 ringed circus.
A quote from my brother about dating and married people:
Single people are merely a playground for married people.
I'm feeling it today.

Jude Law
I am so mad at myself for finding Jude Law remotely attractive in the new movie, The Holiday. "Remotely attractive" isn't quite strong enough for the feelings that developed in me while watching him. The writers of the movie gave him every sort of personality quirk, characteristic and circumstance that would make every female in the audience go, "awwwwww!" I guarantee every woman watching Jude Law said quietly to themselves at some point "I could help him!" and made it their secret mission.
I'm so disappointed.
In all honesty, he does have the best chest hair I have ever seen on a man. Period.

For the Kiddos
I just found this fun website for kids clothing. This is especially important now that I'm an aunt of one and about to be an aunt of two!

House of Blues Show
There are exciting things happening in the great city of Chicago! Namely, I'm performing at the House of Blues with my sketch/improv group, REBIRTH! We'll put up a 40 minute sketch show that's sure to get a laugh or two or three. I even sing in it! Now that's funny.
Here are the details:
When: Friday, December 15, 2006
Time: 9:00 p.m.
Location: House of Blues, Chicago
Cost: $10.00
If you would like to attend you can buy tickets from these two website: House of Blues or Ticketmaster. See our name in lights! And no, Al Roker's XXXLMAS show is not pornographic.
But speaking of porn....
Monday morning I arrived back at the office after a long holiday weekend to an email saying that I had attached a porn video to the mass email I sent out a few days earlier. WHAT?!!!! I sent out a mass email to 1,500 donors saying Thank You and Happy Thanksgiving! Little did they know what Thanksgiving treat they'd be getting from us. I was HORRIFIED to say the least. I mean, in someone's eyes my name will always be associated with porn. Thankfully only one woman had opened the attachment and seen it. Apparently it was a virus that attached itself to this mass email and it was undetectible to our system. Classic!
So be careful of opening any presents from me. You just never know what I might send you.
