Below is a letter from my brother-in-law, Chris. He's writing for support of his organization, Heroes4Heroes. It's a wonderful organization and a worthy cause. What an amazing way to show the troops our gratitude by giving even during these tough economic times.
Dear family and friends,
Most of you know that I started a charity almost three years ago called Heroes4Heroes. We work directly with the military to send out care packages consisting of portable media like comics books, DVD's, video games, magazines and books. This year we were able to send out over 3,000 care packages, 40,000 comics, 800 DVD's and 600 books. We are holding our Live Art Fundraiser this weekend on Nov. 8th at the Sheraton Arlington. I am writing this email to encourage you all to come to the event and to ask you for your help. Last year our event venue was free and this year it will cost us about $5,000. Anything you could give will go a long way to helping us achieve our goal of sending out 10,000 care packets in 2009. H4H is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization and ALL, 100% of our fundraising goes directly to the cause. All our staff are volunteers and we pay no saleries of any kind. Birthday Shout Out's
Happy Birthday to two of my favorite people in the world: Auntie and Andrew! So their birthdays were actually yesterday but I tend to hold the belief that people should keep celebrating the whole week!
I gave the most creative gift to Andrew that I've ever given. Well, creative might not be the correct word; it's more unusual. I donated a goat to a family in need in his honor. What 17 year old boy wouldn't want a goat donated in his name to a family in a third world country? Beats me! Now he'll have a story when someone asks, "What's the most unusual gift you've ever received?" I'm doing him a favor in so many ways.
17 years old! I still can't wrap my brain around it. It's hard to believe that this big kid is the same person as the little newborn I carried so slowly and carefully to the hospital nursery 17 years ago. He changed our lives that day in ways we never would have dreamed. The world is a better place because of him. I know, I'm gushing. I can hardly help myself.

Heroes for Heroes
My brother-in-law, Chris, started a non-profit organization to help support the troops overseas. He was an ROTC guy at Arkansas and he has a heart for supporting those who keep us free. Here is a little blurb from him that shares more about the organization. Please consider helping with a small contribution.
At Heroes For Heroes we collect, comic books, magazines, DVD's, CD's and any other portable media we can get into the hands of our troops. We want to keep them culturally plugged in and also let them know that we are constantly thinking about them. Visit the website www.heroes4heroes.org for more information. We have raised over $3,500 in the last four weeks, but we need a lot more to accomplish some big goals. I know it's the holiday season but if you guys could spare an extra $10 or $20 it would help immensely. Our first packets will be comic books and magazines that we will have placed on the seat of every soldier flying out on the 14 hour flight to Iraq . We are going to make as many packets as we have money for. Let me know if any of you have contacts or have a soldier serving overseas that we can send a packet to.
